Ethics Statement

In this course, I will make sure that I follow the rules of ethics. I will obey laws and give credit where it is due. I will cite anything that is not mine correctly using either MLA or APA. I will make sure that if I am sharing any outside information, that it is applicable to the course and not discriminatory in any way. I will make sure to pay for anything that is not mine if I choose to use something such as music or video clips that I do not own in my videos. However, I would like to use all of my own materials for this course. Meaning, I will not be using video clips or photographs that are not mine for my own storytelling purposes. I would also like to try to not use music in my videos, but I know that this might be unavoidable, as in some cases music might be needed to fill spaces where I am not talking. In that case though, I will make sure to find and purchase royalty free music to use. I will protect others privacy by not sharing information about them that they are not comfortable with me sharing. If I use people other than myself in my videos, I will make sure to get their permission before sharing to ensure that their rights are not being infringed upon. The platforms I will be using to post on this semester are Blogger and YouTube, so please use caution when viewing my posts as these platforms are owned by Google, who is known to use people’s data without their consent.

Selfie Introduction

The inspiration for my selfie video came about in the same way that many of my ideas come. I was laying in bed one night, and like most nights my mind was in overdrive. This night, I was mainly thinking about the Selfie Introduction video that was due soon. I knew without a doubt that I did not want to do a video of myself in front of the camera, as I felt like that was not very original. It came down to two ideas, a "draw my life" sort of video (these videos were really popular on YouTube a few years ago) or a picture video. I decided to go with the latter, as I am not very talented when it comes to drawing. The next task was to find the pictures I wanted to use, it came down to me wanting to introduce myself throughout the years, starting when I was a baby and ending up to where I am now, so I had to find pictures that corresponded with that. I put all the pictures in order, and recorded a voice over, which was definitely the hardest part - and this is what I came up with!

Brooke McGarr
“The Selfie” Script and Scene Setting
Hey everyone! My name is Brooke and my life story started on November 13th 1992. I have two sisters, one older than me by four years, and one younger than me by four years. Growing up in the middle was a lot of fun. I could either got to be the big sister, or I got to be the little sister. Dancing was something that I really loved. I danced from when I was younger to the time I graduated High School. I met some of my best friend’s at dance. When I was sixteen years old, my childhood dreams came true, and I was finally able to get a dog. His name is Brady. I graduated High School in 2011 and celebrated with a Hawaiian themed party that was filled with a lot of family and friends. After High School, I moved around a few times, and ended up taking some early childhood classes in college. However at the beginning of this year, I decided that that wasn’t really what I wanted to do and changed my major to a Bachelor in the Arts with a focus on photography. Photography is my passion, and I hope to make it my career someday. Thank you all for watching my selfie story, and I hope we all have a good semester.
As I used photographs in this video, I am just going to list where each picture was taken.
